Arginase 2/ARG2 Antibody (C-3) is an IgG2b κ mouse monoclonal Arg2 antibody that detects Arg2 of mouse and rat origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA. Arginase 2/ARG2 Antibody (C-3) is available as the non-conjugated anti-Arg2 antibody form, as well as multiple conjugated forms of anti-Arg2 antibody, including agarose, HRP, PE, FITC and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Arginase 1 (also designated liver-type arginase), which is expressed almost exclusively in the liver, catalyzes the conversion of arginine to ornithine and urea. The human Arginase 1 gene, which maps to chromosome 6q23, encodes a 322 amino acid protein. Arginase 1 exists as a homotrimeric protein and contains a binuclear manganese cluster (2-4). Arg2 catalyzes the same reaction as arginase 1, but differs in its tissue specificity and subcellular location (5,6). Specifically, Arg2 localizes to the mitochondria (5,6). Arg2 is expressed in non-hepatic tissues, with the highest levels of expression in the kidneys, but, unlike arginase I, is not expressed in liver (5,6). The human Arg2 gene, which maps to chromosome 14q24.1-q24.3, encodes a 354 amino acid protein (3,5-7). In addition, Arg2 contains a putative amino-terminal mitochondrial localization sequence (5,6).
