Description
Amino acids 314-756 constitute the expression domain of recombinant Human ATP2A2. This ATP2A2 protein is expected to have a theoretical molecular weight of 52.3 kDa. This ATP2A2 protein is produced using e.coli expression system. The N-terminal 6xHis tag was fused into the coding gene segment of ATP2A2, making it easier to detect and purify the ATP2A2 recombinant protein in the later stages of expression and purification.
The research on Sarcoplasmic/Endoplasmic Reticulum Calcium ATPase 2 (ATP2A2) encompasses areas such as cardiac physiology, heart diseases, and the biology of muscle tissue. ATP2A2 is a protein located within muscle cells, primarily involved in regulating intracellular calcium ion concentration. One of the most notable areas of study is its role in the contraction and relaxation processes of cardiac muscle. ATP2A2 pumps calcium ions back into the endoplasmic reticulum or sarcoplasmic reticulum within cells, maintaining the balance within muscle cells and serving as a crucial regulatory factor in cardiac contraction and relaxation. Researchers focus on the role of ATP2A2 in heart diseases, particularly how its abnormal function in conditions like heart failure may lead to disruptions in calcium ion homeostasis, affecting heart function.
