Function Receptor for erythropoietin. Mediates erythropoietin- induced erythroblast proliferation and differentiation. Upon EPO stimulation, EPOR dimerizes triggering the JAK2/STAT5 signaling cascade. In some cell types, can also activate STAT1 and STAT3. May also activate the LYN tyrosine kinase. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:8382775, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8617735}.
Subcellular Location Isoform EPOR-F: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity Expressed in relatively mature erythroid progenitor cells and in EPO-responsive erythroleukemia cells.
Top Pathways Cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, Jak-STAT signaling pathway, Hematopoietic cell lineage, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway
